Kathy Graham

Administrator: Chico Christian Preschool

I was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up there, leaving only to complete the last few years of my undergraduate college education. After that I lived in Illinois, Michigan and now California. My husband is David Graham, a Marriage and Family Therapist and I have two adult daughters, Heather and Brittany, and a wonderfully bright and charming granddaughter, Kaiten. It feels like I have been a Christian all my life, having grown up in a church. However, I do remember a wonderful encounter with God when I was around ten and how I received a small and very special little "new birth" certificate from my church, The Salvation Army in Buffalo. I have taught remedial reading both in an elementary and middle school setting.

I have taught and directed preschool both in Michigan and now for 22 years in California. I was a pastor's wife in Michigan for sixteen years where David was first a youth pastor and later the pastor of two churches near Detroit. We moved to Chico to be near David's family and close to the mountains (David can provide more information about "the mountains".). I love administration and working with families to facilitate their children's first educatonal experiences. I empathize easily and sensitively with the difficulties that surround giving young children a healthy start in life--physically, emtionally, and spiritually. A dream of mine is to involve every parent who comes to Chico Christian Preschool in a parent education program that fits the specific needs of their own particular family.

Ministries
I am the administrator for Chico Christian Preschool, a preschool of approximately 100 children, ages two to five years. I hope soon to open an infant center which will hold 24 children.

Education
I have an undergraduate degree from Houghton College in New York. I completed a master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Michigan, and was only a semester short of completing the coursework for a master's in Old Testament studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. All of my coursework in elementary and early childood education, both in Michigan (where I acquired a teaching credential for grades K-9) and California, was completed after my graduate work. Even though my educational experiences have been varied, I have to say that I value greatly the considerable contributions all of them have made to who I am.

Interesting Facts
