“Circumstances don’t make or break you, they reveal you.” I believe “the process” is more important than “the destination”. We never fail when we step out and take God at His word, we just learn. My role is to call students to fully engage in the process of knowing God deeper and fulfilling the purpose He has for our lives. My heart is for the students who come through this ministry to be given the opportunity to encounter God through engaging in a lifelong journey of knowing and following God. I believe some key aspects for learning and growing in this journey are service, worship, knowing your identity in Christ, discovering and following the passions and dreams God has given you, taking risks and really doing what we talk about. It is my commitment to walk with students and equip them to be followers of Jesus for a lifetime - loving God and loving others.
Ministry: As associate pastor to Student Ministries, I am part of the incredible youth team that has the mission and honor of ministering to students in both Jr. High and Senior High. I am an ambassador for orphans and widows and serving those around us. My heart and goal is that students have very real experiences and encounters with God that build a foundation of intimate relationship with God that’ll last, especially as they transition in to college. That students know who they are and can identify some of the areas they are called to dream and pursue for the glory of God.
Vision: I believe that the best things happen when we step out to do things bigger than ourselves. God works in the realm of the impossible! In these moments God stretches us and causes us to grow and gets all the glory for it! I am passionate about seeing people dream big and fulfill the desires and dreams that God has given them. I am also a firm believer that our greatest influence and authority comes through service to others.
BIO
I was born and raised in the incredible city of Chico and am the oldest of five kids. I did home school studies for a couple of years in elementary school, attended Chico Christian School, Champion Christian for Jr. High and Pleasant Valley High School for all four years of high school. God did significant things in my life during my early years in school and that’s one of the reasons I am so excited to now be able to give back to students and create some of the same opportunities I was given.Following high school, I spent six years ministering to Jr. High and High School students locally and across the nation. The core of this ministry was calling out and equipping students to demonstrate Jesus on their schools in tangible ways. During this time I traveled and spoke at youth conferences, retreats and schools, hosted a nationally syndicated radio show, and helped lead a tour across the America for three and a half months. I decided to go back to school and graduated from Chico State with a major in Organizational Communications and a minor in Business Administration in 2007.
I have been ministering to students in this city across all grade levels for over 14 years. I am passionate about working with the whole body of Christ and giving back to our community through service and other tangible ways.
In January of 2005 my incredibly beautiful wife Melissa and I were married. We now have a little girl named Grace who was born February of 2007. I love family, spending time with friends and helping people. I enjoy traveling, cycling, games, reading, barbecuing, FIFA Soccer, Bocce ball, adventures (like going to Uganda 4 times) and serving others.
