Our High School Ministry at Neighborhood Church is
for 9th – 12th graders.
We are all about creating relationships and opportunities that enable students to connect with God and one another. During the school year we meet Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Youth Center. We also spend time together on Sunday Mornings. We start with worship in the main sanctuary at 11:00, and then youth are dismissed for our own teaching time.
Check out our info below for more details on what’s going on this month!
Did you know this month is National Pizza Month? True story. So if you needed an excuse to eat more pizza, now you have one.
Here are a few things coming up in our ministry . . .
OCTOBER 10th & 24th: AFTER DARK
We have had a great time at our After Dark events so far this year. And we are looking forward to some more fun hang out time after youth group!
We will be going straight from youth group to Del Taco on the 10th.
On the 24th, we will be heading to Jon & Bon’s.
Bring some $, or just come. We will hang out until the last student leaves or they kick us out… whichever comes first!
OCTOBER 17th: CITY PLAZA
As we work on turning our focus outward, we have the opportunity to put our faith to action. We are going to be heading to the Chico Plaza to pass out some blankets, and some water bottles to the homeless. The plan is to leave church at 6:45, and return by 8:30. We will grab ice cream at the downtown Jon & Bon’s if time allows. We’d love to have you join us, and volunteer to drive some students. Let us know!
OCTOBER 21st, 9:30: PARENT & SMALL GROUP LEADER BREAKFAST
This month, we're creating an opportunity for you to connect with your teen's small group leader so we can better love, lead, and influence your teenager together. We had to change the date due to a scheduling conflict, sorry. We still want you to join us in the Youth Center for breakfast, an hour to chat, and get to know your teen’s small group leader before heading over to church. Let us know if you’ll be there by replying to this email. Thanks!
OCTOBER 31st, 6:30-8:30: HALLOWEEN HANGOUT
Many of our students already have Halloween plans with friends and family, and that’s great. We hope you have a safe, fun night together. If you don’t have plans, join us for pizza, popcorn, and a movie at church (in 401). Families are welcome- see you there!
WHERE WE’RE GROWING THIS MONTH…
THE GREATEST SHOW: A SERIES ON IDENTITY ON SUNDAYS
Do you ever felt like you’re putting on a show? Like the person people think you are doesn’t line up with who you really are? Or maybe you’ve been known to put on different personas for different situations -- personas that help you fit in with certain crowds, even if that persona doesn’t reflect who you really want to be. Sound familiar? Of course it does. We can all relate because, at times, we all struggle with the same big questions: “Who am I? Who loves me? Why am I here?” In this series on identity, we’ll help students find answers to those questions as they discover that, in Jesus, they are loved, they are forgiven, they have purpose, and they belong.
AFTER YOU: A SERIES ON OTHERS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS
In a culture obsessed with selfies, celebrities, money, and success, it’s not difficult to understand why so many of us struggle with being a little self-centered at times. But while “me first” may the norm for the rest of the world, Jesus showed us what it looks like to live a generous, compassionate, selfless, “after you” kind of life. In this series, we’ll challenge students to move away from the world’s “me first” attitude and embrace the “after you” message of Jesus by noticing needs, opening their hands, using their gifts, and sharing their joy.
PARENT TIP OF THE MONTH
Parents, we don't want to freak you out or anything, but here's something to keep in mind: more often than not, your teenager's faith will mirror yours. This month, be mindful of the example you're setting for your teenager. It matters!
